With this new collection of previously unpublished work, Bruce Taylor continues to exhume work that has always defied categorization. Working on an in-patient, locked psychiatric floor in the major trauma center in Seattle for twenty-five years, he took an early retirement in 2003 to write full time. Not needing to be concerned about making a living by his writing, Bruce wrote as he pleased. Indeed how he made his living gave him a wealth of fascinating psychological theory and concepts that literally fed his creativity to the point where, even while working, he could write up to five stories a day, eventually writing about 1,000 stories, while keeping forty out to market at any given time and publishing what he wrote. Writing for the sheer joy and exuberance of creative expression, his work explored, examined and exhumed the proverbial "human condition" in a broad array of styles until finally realizing what he was doing was not only writing in a style later known as magic realism but blending it with Imaginative Literature, particularly science fiction, horror and fantasy, he discovered how well those modes of expression fit well in a magic realist universe. Given this perspective, these stories nonetheless still reflect the classic themes of the nature of love, how we become the person we were meant to be, but also the journey into the twilight—of our hearts.
