Trilogy Reading Survey

Background

Trilogies — or any self-contained story that may span multiple volumes, such as Lord of the Rings, but not open ended series of separate stories, like Star Wars novels — present an interesting question. They're often printed as separate volumes by publishers because of non-reader related factors like printing costs. But with the advent of ebooks, and to some extent print-on-demand technology, these factors may be less noteworthy — leaving the question as to whether readers prefer trilogies in separate volumes or not. That is, ignoring other concerns, what do readers want?

What do you think? Separate volumes, or all in one? Please share your thoughts in the quick survey below.

Thanks for your input!
